TdF Day 3-5

 I finished spinning the first two batts and started on some gradient dyed bfl/silk from Kim Dyes Yarn. I bailed on spinning yesterday after a full day of zoo keeping..... and went last minute shoe shopping with a friend so I have some cute new casual flats to wear on vacation instead of just tennis shoes (bonus, they are also easier to take on and off to spin!).

 Today's job will be figuring out what to pack to spin while away. I'm bringing the Aura since it folds and we have a small car...... so the gradient spin will have to wait it's turn for when I get back next week.

Old Books

Before attending the Tour de Fleece kick off party at Nature's Yarns last weekend... I made a failed attempt to go look for garage sales.  No harm done... there's a local thrift shop that always has interesting finds!   I did not purchase these books but they had a LOT of really neat ones this trip! 
(I did buy some 30-40 year old children's books about horses.)

Tour de Fleece - day 2

 2nd batt carded to spin during the tour! There's TONS of sparkle in this one...

I finished spinning the first batt and got started on this beauty today before my feet said no more spinning for you...

I love my wheels, but I'm seriously starting to dream about getting a Spinolution Firefly (electric wheel). One of my friends, a fellow fiber artist,  is a dealer and I just love seeing how she can just spin anything at all on hers during festivals.

I think a motorized drumcarder will come first, but I can dream! 

First Shop update~!

Here's a look at all the goodies listed in the first update in the Zibbet shop!

There's a dozen and a half one of a kind carded batts. All smooth and easy as pie to draft. No texture here!

Next up - washed and or dyed fleece!  I'm parting with my collection as honestly my hay allergies just ruin the joy these fibers should bring.  There will be a LOT more natural colored washed fleece listed in the coming weeks.  Contact me if there's a breed you are looking for or color in particular!

Tour de Fleece 2016 - day 1

 YAY!!! It's finally tour de fleece....  no cooking, dishes or laundry is required, right?

For the first time in at least a year and a half ...... I carded a batt for myself!  Got up this morning, got dressed, and headed straight to the studio and threw fibers into a basket! I finished carding it before breakfast even!  lol

This is superwash bfl, firestar, starbright, faux cashmere and milk fiber....  I didn't weight the finished batt either so I don't know how much there is!
(....but there is more of all the fibers to card more of this colorway!)

 I didn't actually spin until I went to a local yarn shop's kick off party at 3pm.  Hubby showed back up at 5 for us to go grocery shopping.. I had NO IDEA 2 hours had past!   Time flies when you are having fun! 



This is my bobbin when I got home today.. I'm guessing close to 2 oz spun!
